Save the Date: The 4th Annual West Alabama Food and Wine Festival

Tuscaloosa residents are, not surprisingly, huge foodies. With all that the area has to offer, how could they not be? Attention, foodies: The West Alabama Food and Wine Festival is set for Thursday, April 28, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Tuscaloosa River Market. The fourth-annual Festival will feature samplings of more than 40 wines and a wide variety of delicious foods from favorite local eateries.

This annual event, a major fundraiser benefiting the West Alabama Red Cross, also features live music and a limited edition, commemorative wine glass for each guest to take home.

The 2016 Festival is scheduled to feature new exhibitors and samples from Side By Side Restaurant, Nothing But Noodles, R. Davidson Chop House, Black Warrior Brewery and Band of Brothers Brewery. Returning restaurants for this year’s event include Avenue Pub, Southern Ale House, Taziki’s Mediterranean Café, The Levee, Cypress Inn, DePalma’s, Evangelines, Kozy’s and more. Loosa Brews and Druid City Brewing will also be returning to offer beer tastings.

Craig Williams, owner of Avenue Pub – a 2015 newcomer to the Festival – said the event offered a great opportunity to gain exposure within the community.

“We felt honored to share the floor with some great local restaurants,” Williams said. “We thoroughly enjoyed being a part of the Festival.”

Wine tastings will be provided by a variety of Alabama distributors, including Pinnacle Wines, International Wines, United-Johnson Brothers and Alabama Crown.

Last year’s festival, which brought out over 200 guests and 20 vendors, raised over $10,000 for the West Alabama Red Cross Chapter.

“Each year we have seen the festival grow,” said Festival Event Coordinator Shannon Corbell. “The restaurants and wine vendors out-do themselves every year. We’ve seen everything from seared sea scallops on parmesan crisps to chocolate covered bacon, and wine from California to France.”

Sponsorship tables are available featuring VIP early entry, guaranteed seating and specialty gifts.

Tickets are $55 per person, or $100 per couple. They are available at BrownPaperTickets.com. For more information, visit westalabamafoodandwine.org or call (205) 614-7844.
