It was a big day for the Raymond James Team at the 26th Annual Nucor Adopt-A-School Golf Tournament, as the team was the overall tourney winner, and team member Elliott Jones hit a hole-in-one. The team won $500 for their adopted school, Faucett Vestavia Elementary.
Ever played golf in the dark? On August 12, Child Abuse Prevention Services, or CAPS, is hosting an event unique to the Tuscaloosa community: a golf tournament played in the dark.
Every year, area golfers take part in The First Tee Benefit Scramble. And each year, the program is able to grow as a result. This year’s First Tee of Tuscaloosa Benefit Scramble will be held this Saturday, June 11, at Ol’ Colony Golf Complex, and organizers are hoping for yet another strong turnout.
The First Tee chapter of Tuscaloosa is based at Ol’ Colony. The organization teaches children the game of golf, but director Mike Shivetts says it’s about much more.
On a beautiful spring day yesterday, twenty-three teams participated in the YFC Legacy Golf Challenge.
The tournament is YFC’s largest fundraiser of the year, with all proceeds being utilized to provide Campus Life and Teen Moms outreaches to 11 high schools and middle schools in the Druid City.
