Northport Election Results: Who Won, and Who is in a Runoff?

Northport residents went to the polls on Tuesday, Aug. 23, to vote for mayor and five city council seats. When polls closed at 7 p.m., unofficial results began coming in (votes will be canvassed on Tuesday, Aug. 30, at a special city council meeting).

Two-term incumbent Northport Mayor Bobby Herndon will be in a runoff with former city councilwoman Donna Aaron. Unofficial results show Herndon garnered 45 percent of the vote, with Aaron taking 28 percent.

In District 1, Dennis Hambright received 42 percent of the votes, followed by incumbent Judy Hayes with 37 percent. They’ll be in a runoff as well.

Incumbent District 2 Northport City Councilman Jay Logan won re-election, garnering 64 percent of the votes.

In District 3, incumbent Rodney Sullivan was the winner, with 70 percent of the votes.

Robby Davis beat Tracy Kelly in District 4. Kelly received 61 percent of the votes; Kelly got 39 percent.

District 5 was a tight race, with Jeff Hogg garnering 35 percent of the votes, Dale Phillips with 33 percent, and Danny Higdon getting 32 percent. Hogg and Phillips will likely be in the runoff.

Runoff elections will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 4 for mayor and the two city council seats.
