Eagles’ Wings of Tuscaloosa’s second annual Shrimpfest and Bar-B-Q will be held at Kentuck Park on Saturday, August 6 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., with a car show beginning at 10 a.m. The proceeds from the event will benefit Eagles’ Wings. Tickets are $10, and include admission to a children’s area.
Food vendors, the classic car show, live music and raffles will all be featured during the event, with 30 percent of food purchases benefiting Eagle’s Wings. Registration for the classic car show is $20. Those in attendance will also have a chance to win a 2016 Honda Recon 4-wheeler, along with additional door prizes.
Eagle’s Wings is a non-profit organization that provides day habilitation services for adults with mild, moderate and severe intellectual and physical disabilities. The organization, which provides services that are individualized to meet each person’s needs, is committed to promoting and protecting individual rights.
Eagle’s Wings has purchased 96 acres of land to build homes providing residential care to adults with special needs. The organization plans to provide residents with private bedrooms and vocational opportunities such as gardening and recycling programs, life-skills training in computer labs and creating ceramic items for sale.
