Tuscaloosa to Honor Fallen Heroes on Memorial Day 2016 The annual Memorial Day service at Veterans Memorial Park honors the brave men and women who died in service to our country.

A Memorial Day service to honor military veterans is planned for Monday, May 30 at the Tuscaloosa Veterans Memorial Park. The hour-long program, which begins at 9 a.m., is free and open to the public.

The guest speaker at the Tuscaloosa Memorial Day service is Army Lieutenant Colonel Jonathan L. Goode. He has served multiple tours of duty, including in Egypt, Iraq, Kuwait and Afghanistan. Goode, who enlisted in the U.S. Army in March 1988, currently serves as the professor of Military Science for the University of Alabama’s Army ROTC program. 

After the ceremony guests are encouraged to tour the Park’s military exhibits and visit the Honor Roll of Veterans and Congressional Medal of Honor monuments. The Memorial Day Ceremony is sponsored by the Veterans Memorial Park Association and the Tuscaloosa County Park & Recreation Authority (PARA).
